Tutorial: Inspired Change Leadership at Test Bash - New York City, November 2015

Intensive 3-day technical class on acceptance test driven development (ATDD)  within an agile context. This class immerses attendees in understanding how ATDD fits into an agile organization and the real tangible benefits to using it, in addition to many hands-on exercises in creating test scripts that interact with a web page. One-day immersive class on test driven development, refactoring, and pairing. I paired with Bryan Beecham, creator of TDD Lego to teach this class. TWST (Toronto Workshop on Software Testing)

Organized by Fiona Charles and Michael Bolton. A small group of thinking testers gather each year to discuss a variety of topics in software testing. Intense discussions abound over 2 days, as we present, explore, debate, and gain insights into the selected topic area.

    • 2012: Topic - Test Management, Leadership and Team Building. My presentation was "Pumpkin Plan Your Test Team" - using principles from pumpkin farming to grow a high quality sustainable test organization.
    • 2010: Topic - Reporting on Testing to Stakeholders. My presentation was ”A New Test Manager Evolves Test Reporting: Know Your Audience” - the importance of tailoring test reports to what your stakeholders really care about.
    • 2009: Topic - Coaching & Mentoring Testers. ”Working Out What Makes a Great Coach”. Critical qualities and behaviours of successful coaches and mentors, through my experiences as a fitness coach, and as a software testing coach & mentor.

Conference for the Association for Software Testing (CAST)

Attended the conference in 2008 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This was my first experience at a CAST conference, and I was hooked! The format of sessions and the caliber of speakers and attendees was phenomenal. I spent several years speaking at subsequent conferences and joined the board.  (2011, 2010, 2009, 2008)
